LogEM ("we", "our", "us") is a clinical shift logging and portfolio management tool for Emergency Medicine professionals. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data responsibly.
LogEM is part of the MasterEM ecosystem and is operated by MasterEM. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
What Data We Collect
Account Information:
- Name and email address (for account creation and login)
- Password (stored securely using one-way hashing — we never store or see your actual password)
- Account preferences (dark mode, notification settings)
Clinical Logging Data:
- Shift details (date, hospital site, shift type, role)
- Non-identifiable patient encounter summaries (age group, gender, area, diagnosis, procedures, learning points)
- POCUS scan logs (modality, indication, findings)
- Anaesthetics case logs (specialty, techniques, procedures)
- Portfolio entries, WBAs, and reflections
Payment Information:
- Subscription management is handled securely by Stripe. We do not store your card details on our servers.
Technical Data:
- Browser type, device information, and usage patterns to improve the service
- Session cookies for authentication
How We Use Your Data
- To provide and maintain your LogEM account and services
- To track your training progress against the EM 2021 curriculum (SLOs)
- To generate analytics, dashboards, and portfolio exports
- To process subscription payments via Stripe
- To send transactional emails (welcome, password reset, payment receipts)
- To send optional summary and reminder emails (you can opt out at any time via your profile settings)
- To improve and develop the service
We never sell your data to third parties or use it for advertising.
Data Security
We take security seriously and implement the following measures:
- Encryption in transit: All data is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS/SSL)
- Password security: Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms and never stored in plain text
- Secure payments: Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe, a PCI-DSS compliant payment provider
- Session management: Secure, signed session cookies with automatic expiry
- Access control: Your data is accessible only to you through your authenticated account
Data Storage & Retention
- Your data is stored on secure, managed database infrastructure
- We retain your data for as long as your account is active
- If you delete your account, your data is soft-deleted and permanently removed within 90 days
- Uploaded images are stored securely and deleted when the associated record is removed
Data Sharing
We only share data with the following third-party services, strictly for operational purposes:
- Stripe — for payment processing (Stripe Privacy Policy)
- Resend — for sending transactional emails (Resend Privacy Policy)
We do not share, sell, or provide your clinical logging data to any other third party.
Data Export
You can export your data at any time:
- Individual shift exports (Excel)
- Bulk data exports with custom date ranges (Excel/PDF)
- Dashboard analytics exports (Excel/PDF)
- POCUS and Anaesthetics logbook exports (Excel/PDF)
- Portfolio and WBA exports
This ensures you always have full access to and control over your own data.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data at any time through the app
- Export all your data using the built-in export features
- Correct any inaccurate information via your profile settings
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Opt out of non-essential emails via your notification preferences
- Withdraw consent for data processing by deleting your account

Cookies
LogEM uses only essential cookies required for the app to function:
- Session cookie: Keeps you logged in during your session
- Preference cookie: Remembers your dark mode setting
We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or any third-party analytics cookies.
